Who can play

Makers, designers, volunteers, and moderators are all eligible for Bingo game prizes!

How it works

This year we'll have two bingo cards for you! Once the event starts, download the card of your choice (see 'What you'll need', below), and do your best to fill it up! Of course you can also attempt to fill both of them, or multiple of the same card.

The first bingo card is Try All Things. This is for folks who make a bunch of smaller projects and want to try out everything.

The second bingo card is Take Your Time. This lets people focus on a big project or challenging technique during the event.

Make note of which project(s) and pattern(s) you use for each square.

You can fill in the card manually or digitally.

Share your card in any of our social spaces - the #games-bingo channel on Discord (which will be open for chatting throughout the event), or use hashtag #FOYALbingo on Twitter or Instagram! There will be opportunities in all these places to share your bingo card, no matter how complete, for chances to win!

Before the event ends (11:59pmET December 31, 2022), submit your bingo card(s), in whatever state of completion they might be - this enters you for a chance to win prizes! Submit by emailing your card(s) to FastenOffYALGames@gmail.com with the subject "BINGO card". Include in your email the names of the patterns you've used, and a picture of the projects you used to fill out the card(s).

Finished your card? You can always attempt more to fill multiple cards, but remember: you start with a clean slate, so the projects you used for one card don't count for subsequent cards.

What are the prizes?
  • We'll choose five random entrants from everyone who submitted anything for the Bingo game, to win one free pattern each
  • We'll choose five random entrants who got at least one row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) to win three free patterns each, from three separate participating designers
  • We'll choose three random entrants who filled up an entire card to win five free patterns each, from five separate participating designers

Picture party

Where to play

Discord (#games-picture-party channel), Twitter

When to play

Discord: December 2 to 30; the chain will be continuous once started
Twitter: See our event schedule

Who can play

The game is open to makers, designers, volunteers, and moderators.

How it works

Picture Party is a chain game.
  • To start with at the very beginning of the chain, a picture of a design by one of our participating designers is posted by the game facilitator, and you need to answer with the name of the design and its designer.
  • Then, you post a picture of a design by one of our participating designers, for other people to answer.
  • You can enter multiple times during the chain, but leave at least two posts by other people between your entries.
  • To diversify the designers highlighted in the game, we ask that you post a picture of a design from a designer whom you haven't posted something from yet.
  • On Discord, this will be a no-chat channel, because we aim to keep the game easy to follow; but, you can respond to posts using threads, or switching to the #games-chatting chat channel.
  • We don't expect that anyone will post a wrong answer, so don't halt the game by waiting for anyone to confirm your answer is correct; you can just post a new picture right after you answer.
Depending on the device you're using, you can grab images from the database on our website by right-clicking or tapping-and-holding, and then selecting 'copy' or 'download' (or a similar option) to grab the image.
If you need help grabbing images, jump into the private messages of our games queen Marieke, or the #event-help channel on the Discord server.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded periodically. Enter early and often for more chances to win!

The game is open to makers, designers, volunteers, and moderators.

How it works

Scavenger Hunt is a chain game.
  • To start with at the very beginning of the chain, the game facilitator will post a prompt (examples below).
  • Then, you reply with a link which matches the prompt; links need to be from the website's database, or participating designers' websites.
  • Then, you post a new prompt, for other people to reply to.
  • You can enter multiple times, but leave at least two posts by others between your entries.
  • To diversify the designers and patterns highlighted in the game, we ask that you try to post something you haven't shared before.
